All parts of the fungus can be used to make chaga tea, while only the soft inner portions are suitable for tinder. Non-tinder portions are for sale here as “Chaga Grade”, while selected soft premium tinder grade is sold as “Tinder Grade”.

The inner soft “tinder” portions are tinder for spark based fire ignition systems and fire pistons. Although small bits of tinder may remain on “Chaga Grade”, only “Tinder Grade” is selected for use as fire starting tinder.
